"Love's Invasion"

Love came in a Spanish calypso
with sonnets written under a
Back Bay’s Indian moon
It was smoking a Cuban cigar
filled with verses written
by romantic film heroes
Blowing clouds of carnival sounds
trying to rewrite the notes to my heart
I fell prey
to the sweet tongue
Kissing my heaven

When I was awakened
from the hypnotic loving
It had stolen my rebel
Leaving me like those badass poets
Who once composed the history of
Britain with their famished teeth
Volcanic lyrics that made
The devil retreat under words
they can now be seen on road side theaters
Singing tunes of Shakespeare
Writing love messages in bottles
Searching for that predator
Who indulged on their hearts
Very shortly they will blossom
Because that is what love will do
Filling your inkwell with roses
and soft melodies
Making you forget to cry
I feel the beating heart from graves
Of men whose bravery still bleeds on my page
I didn’t want to fall in love
And have it take away the pain
Because yesterday needs revealing
and tomorrow needs replenishing

But alas...

Am too late for Love’s Invasion.

Lush, efficacious, literary-minded romantica. If you're not writing romance novels, you should be.

Powerful knight
solely invading my kingdom
he wears his heart
as a shield
revealed
are all his senses
in a gazing look
like an open book
he unfolds my layers
being recited in my prayers
he is the hymns of my heart
where would i start
if i am ever to carve his lines
tattooed to my skin
he lives deeper within
my existence
invaded with love
universal and borderless
like an ancient Egyptian lateny
he crypted my soul with his ecstacy
only he can decipher
as i shiver
on his sandalwood aroma
savagely crashing my resistance
that we just breath our divinity
being immortal legends
victoriously rising
within the relics of our history
we are forever
those heroic martyrs
who saw heaven
emmerging from the ruins of hell
that much we can tell
with a glimpse of an eye
and a shy dimpled smile
that declares the invasion
as our soul liberation
as our lips would meet
in a revolutionary treat
enchanting our splashing flag
only within his arms
i submit my freedom
and welcome his celebrated invasion.

I loved every line darling, your verses always bring my words dancing with love..yes, it is the love invasion and we shall live it with all our hearts, he deserves it and more..:) perfectly magnificent love..tight hugs Queen..xoxoxo :)))

This is a garden of creativity, a jewel that knows no season, for it encompasses all seasons. Lovely imagery too sate the visual with the beauty of poetry.

A lovely poetic One Stop,

Wow. The depth of this one is stunning. There's a rich sense that we're steeped in history, not just of a place, or of a story, but the history of people as a whole and how we try to paint ourselves with a sophisticated, urbane brush.

"It had stolen my rebel..." These words flowed like the Nile. Wonderful One Shot. Love and Light, Sender

I'm a sucker for titles and this one just blew me away. There are way too many lines dripping with sweet poetic nectar to single out one or two favourites. However, this is what got me riled....

"I fell prey
to the sweet tongue
Kissing my heaven" ~ Whoa!!!

So vivid and sensual. More romantic this time, as some have also said. Love it!

The first line so pulled me in:

"Love came in a Spanish calypso
with sonnets written under a
Back Bay’s Indian moon"

Brought back a little memory of my hometown. I doubt if it's Boston's Back Bay but I like it:)

Fantastic detail in your poem! The amount of reflection brings serious emotional punch. Excellent read, beautiful usage of imagery really brings out the theme of the poem well.

So many lovely lines in this piece that plunges into the past only to emerge in a profusion of modern imagery. I loved the many allusions to writing and poetry and everything literary and beautiful. Every word was carefully calculated and presented... and I received... with a smile in my heart... and a head full of roses.

Lovely lovely lovely, in every way, Wild Rose. One of my favorites by you, yet!

Warm hugs and kisses, dearest!

What a romantic and tragic story your poem tells. I love the first images, as passion sneaks in, all wrapped in latin salsa and spice.

This was like a Beethoven symphony. It went from loud to soft and back to loud again.

There are too many lines I love to put them all in the comment box, but...I was especially taken with "Blowing clouds of carnival sounds..." and "Leaving me like those badass poets
Who once composed the history of
Britain with their famished teeth.." This last line made me LOL.

I also like your new background. At least I hope it's new and it's not that I just never noticed it. I know it's stained glass, but it looks a bit like snake skin...
