82nd Academy Awards & my Oscar Predictions:

Well it’s that time of the year again films seen and we’ve moved on; some were great and others not so great. Here are my predictions for the OSCARS tomorrow and those that will win and hopefully they do. Note: My first pick is who will and should win and the rest are who i'd rather see win versus what the Academy picks~

Best Picture: Inglourious Basterds… But it may end up going to Hurt Locker not my first pick obviously.

Best Director: Quentin Tarantino (Inglourious Basterds), it may go to James Cameroon (Avatar) or Kathryn Bigelow (Hurt Locker) because the Academy feels like it..

Best Actress: Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia) and if not her I would vote for Gabourey Sidebe (Precious). Unfortunately the Academy may end up giving it to Sandra Bullock who is a great actress but my first pick above deserves this one if not the second pick.

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) and I would vote for Morgan Freeman (Invictus) if Jeff doesn't win for this as well.

Best Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique (Precious) will take this one and if not I'd hope they give it to Penelope Cruz (Nine). I will not be surprised however if the Academy gives it to Maggie Gyllenhaal (Crazy Heart)

Best Supporting Actor: All my bets are on Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) and I will be peeved if he doesn’t win. He’s the best Jew Hunter I have ever come across; even I got scared of him as Col. Hans Landa in the film.

Best Original Screenplay: Inglourious Basterds (Quentin Tarantino) but again the Academy may ignore this amazing piece of artwork and probably give the Oscar to Hurt Locker (Mark Boal). They’re both good but the former is by far the best if they don’t give it to Inglourious Basterds, I'd like them to give it to A serious Man (Joel Coen and Ethan Coen)

Best Adapted Screenplay: District 9 (Neill Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell) and if not then i hope An Education (Nick Hornby)gets it.

Best Animated Feature: Up if not then give it to The Secret of Kells

Best Documentary Feature: Food Inc., but the Academy may give this one to The Cove.

And those are my predictions so fingers crossed let’s see what happens…

I love pre-Oscar posts. :)

I'd actually be very pleased if Inglourious Basterds surprised us all and stormed the ceremony. Perhaps not quite as pleased as you though. ;)

Thanks Scott, i believe that was the best picture this year and it deserves the win. But again like i said before what we strongly believe should win is sometimes not what the Academy chooses for whatever reasons but good to know am not alone in supporting Quentin T. :-)

i agree with you larvee,in fact i loved Sandra s performances but i don't think they deserve an oscar tho! Meryl is more of an achiever to me..she is my all times favs..gets better with age too i think! so lets see what happens girl..love your insight..:)

Alex says he "loves pre-Oscar posts"

Well I love post-Oscar posts...why? Because I get to be annoying and inject my "I told you so." to everyone who doubted me :)

Best Regards,

Haha...Wael/Cinephilex you had to rub it in that much? Okay am a lady so i loose gracefully but i could argue according to my above post that i expected the Academy to hand it all to Hurt Locker despite that I chose to stand by the films i believed were the best :) So i guess in a way we both win right? And we can celebrate together. Since me and Scott owe you a drink, just say when and we'll settle it~ :))

I enjoy reading these kinds of posts, also feel that academy misses good films and gives credit to some movies not that deserving.
